Going Hollywood.

I have been accused of “going Hollywood” in some of my pronouncements, however the theatrics of the Republican party in defense of MOM and his appointees. is worthy of  bad actor awards. There have been declarations of all that MOM has accomplished in such a short time..The diminution of the world status that the U.S.A.once had is all that I can see.

I have watched Fox News and the discouragement of all but the most rabid POTUS supporters(e.g.Bartiromo),other channels like NBC,CBS,Channels 7,5,9,,MSNBC,CNN read excerpts from LA Times ,N.Y. Times,Washington Post Wall Street Journal,Daily News,USA,N.Y.Post etc..Only the N.Y. Post and Fox news seem relatively immune to crticizing both the domestic and foreign policies or lack thereof, of the Trump administration..The comment of a former federal prosecutor on MSNBC was particularly impressive.I believe his name was Cilo..His charateization of the Mueller report was one of stopping short of convicting the “Gang Who Couldn’t Shoot Straight”They are still guilty of having tried..

I believe that the Mueller report will have come up short of active conspiraacy on the part of the current administration because it was inept but the evidence will show that  it tried .Will we see the final frame of this  bad and dangerous movie with Trump Force 1 flying off to friendly Russian skies pursued by U.S. jets? Surrendering your passport doesn’t mean much when you have your own jet and can reach Iceland to refuel. We can end our cinema verite with the Trumps occupying the top floor of  a Moscow Trump Hotel and being on display for a price until repatriated on the whim of an elderly Putin  for some minor advantage in a dying word ; climate change amelioration having been deliberately missed by MOM and the GOP’s opposition

Could Daedal2207 give us some examples (empirical evidence) to support his opinions? How are Barr and his “ilk” redefining the game? Who are “his ilk”? What is the real evidence that supports the use of this slander of AG Barr and those who may be his friends? Give us some examples of Trump’s “lies” and how they are “increasing”. If real lies, are they minor or major lies? How do they differ from the many lies told the public by leading Democrats – such as their repeated certitudes that within a few decades (or sooner) global warming will destroy, instead of improve, the earth? Or, that they actually “know” the exact degree to which man is contributing to climate change? How do they “know” that if we give them control of our economy, they will be our Saviors? Or, is this just another belief-drug they inject into their minds in order to excite personal FEELINGS of righteous grandiosity?

    Too early to crow.

daedal2207: “Whatever the game,MOM and co. are rolling up the net and stealing the game implements.”

Not only that … the ball within the parallel lines is permissible in single matches. ;-). Yee, gads!

DS: “I like these sports too. We see here the fun and flexibility of fantasy. Attractive, but sometimes distractive of important real-world activities.”

Guilty. “Real-world activities” deserve more than platitudes of fantasy … fantasies which are not even good for children. They get lost in the ether of self-importance of a mind for which an undefined ends justify a corrupt means … by every normal measure. None are so blind who do not wish to see.

DS, you keep me on my tippy toes! 😉

    1. On several occasions SB has told us that “None are so blind who do not wish to see.” I think that there is truth here. So, let’s “look” at this idea and “see” why:

Something that everybody can see because it is so in front of our faces, is the fact that some are suffering. Also easily viewed is the fact that other people have wealth. It is a simple mind activity to understand that if a compassionate group gains a legal access to the others’ bank accounts those resources can immediately be directed to help the specific people that group deems to be needy. Marxism put it simply: “From each according to ability, to each according to need”.

But everybody “sees” this, so what really is the nature of the willing blindness? Something not so easily “seen” are those who WILL BE needy AND WHY. And less easily “seen” are those in need who are presently out of view. To accurately “see” into the future and beyond the range of physical eyesight we have to turn to the mind’s eye. With the tools of math and logic we can magnify the range of our vision (observe the play of actual cause-and-effect) well beyond the obvious visions of redistribution described above. It is those who refuse to accurately use these tools who illustrate the nature of minds “who do not wish to see”.

For instance, what happens when the short-sighted, self-described, “compassionate” group runs out of other-peoples’ money? What happens to quantity and quality of resources when the proven producers, because they believe they are taxed too highly, choose to diminish or stop producing? Most who are productive are not motivated by the “moral goodness” of altruism. Why would these talents choose to work for a government that belittles, demeans, and penalizes the profit motive? But, more broadly, what kind of “vision” would call that which increases death and suffering “moral”, and calls “immoral” the system that produces the resources needed for more to live and thrive? To look at poison and “see” moral goodness, and to look at goodness and “see” poison is a far more insidious dysfunction than is a relatively simple, willful or not, “blindness”.

  3. Yes, Hollywood is known for its fantasies. In Tinseltown wishful belief reigns, Utopia is possible, and cheesecake is not fattening.

But one wonders why anyone wanting real lives to thrive would allow such leaps into fantasy to influence the making of laws that govern life-death decisions here in the real world?

AG Barr’s report states: “[T]he investigation did not establish that members of the Trump Campaign conspired or coordinated with the Russian government in its election interference activities.” If this is a misrepresentation of Mueller’s conclusion we would expect by now that Mueller himself would have provided correction. Note that not only was there no conspiracy, there was no coordination with the Russians. Daedal2207, and other hate-Trump mindsets insist that this can only reflect incompetence instead of honesty. Given the extreme nature of resistance to any option that might throw a positive light on Trump activities, an objective mind has to factor into the what-is-the-truth-equation an understanding that some groups have sacredly important agendas that put them in conflict with objective reasoning. So, for them fantasy is the only remaining option.

    1. The correction of the misrepresentation of the Mueller report will come as soon as the Democrats can bring Mueller to testify. This is not simple because of the obstacles hurled into the path of inquiry by MOM and his Justice dept. and Senate allies. The delaying tactic is in the hope that by the time the lies are exposed ,the American public will no longer care..There’s a surprise pending for many..

      1. DS: “AG Barr’s report states: ‘[T]he investigation did not establish that members of the Trump Campaign conspired or coordinated with the Russian government in its election interference activities.’”

Cherry-picking spin. Tsk, tsk, tsk. AG Barr is advocating for/representing his client, Donald Trump. Unfortunately, he is obligated to represent the American people. He was operative-savvy enough to blunt what is sure to come.

“[Barr] cautioned, however, that Mr. Mueller’s report states that ‘while this report does not conclude that the president committed a crime, it also does not exonerate him’ on the obstruction of justice issue.”

        daedal2207: “There’s a surprise pending for many.”

How true!!! What is being ignored by the believers of the MOM cult are the states’ investigations/actions to which 3-D chess player Mueller turned over corrupt issues.

DS: “Given the extreme nature of resistance to any option that might throw a positive light on Trump activities, an objective mind has to factor into the what-is-the-truth-equation an understanding that some groups have sacredly important agendas that put them in conflict with objective reasoning. So, for them fantasy is the only remaining option.”

On the above statement, may I suggest substitution of the word “positive” with “negative”? Yep. Then, how true … how very true. Right back at ya, DS.

        P. S. I love tennis.

        1. The core of the investigation was the collusion with Russia issue. The “obstruction of justice” issue is peripheral to that and subject to much more that is subjective in nature, thus it was thrown to Barr for the final judgment. The solid “tennis” ball that I served to SB’s court hit exactly within the lines and her return effort turned into a lightweight shuttlecock – off the mark and part of a different game.

I like these sports too. We see here the fun and flexibility of fantasy. Attractive, but sometimes distractive of important real-world activities.

        2. The “core” of the mandate may have been collusion(and total exoneration from this did not occur).Obstruction of justice is certainly a manifestation of unsuitability to obtain or retain office.Whatever the game,MOM and co. are rolling up the net and stealing the game implements. While Barr and his ilk are redefining the game MOM seems to be showing signs of either early Alzheimers or other personality deterioration under stress. The lies are increasing and the impulsivity as well.Steve Bannon is declaring that MOM is going to raging beast mode. That (whatever he means) seems well beyond beyond the Nietzchean superman and its antecedent barbarian.
Watch for the Republican gymnastics to keep Mueller from giving testimony to congress.

      1. The following is a quote from the article SB has given us. “A senior administration official told PolitiFact that Trump arrived at the $91 billion figure by combining the roughly $41 billion already allocated with additional estimated future FEMA costs of $50 billion. (The Washington Post’s Fact Checker wrote that the $50 billion was a high end estimate of what would need to be committed under the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act of 1988.)”

“Fantasy-like exaggerations”, sadly (and sometimes pleasantly), are used by “salesmen” of all stripes (includes Democrat and Republican politicians) to manipulate people to “buy” their product. It is up to U.S. to recognize the true value (or not) of that which they are selling. We see by the above quote that ultimately the 91 billion figure is within the realm of possible. Because of Trump’s exaggeration/deception more minds became aware of the immense number of dollars shifted to “help” Puerto Rico deal with its issues. The salesman/showman style of Donald Trump has increased awareness of money resources absorbed by this island territory. This knowledge then presses for those funds to be more efficiently used.

Given that such tactics are historically universal there should be little surprise about its use by all sides today. We the potential buyers of what is being sold have a responsibility to separate style from content. Obama’s style was less obviously that of a salesman, but the content of what he was selling (with exaggerated and deceptive fantasy) was of immense life-and-death importance, for instance, “You can keep your doctor!”.

        1. Generally speaking, verbosity obfuscates … attempting to put out the light. Developments will speak for themselves.

  4. daedal2207: “I believe that the Mueller report will have come up short of active conspiracy on the part of the current administration because it was inept but the evidence will show that it tried.”

When disgusted at the guile which the Organization possesses, an unemotional former government analyst reiterated to me the ineptness of this two-bit W.H. expressed in the comment above. To those for whom crass corruption is a measure of success, the nation’s compass has gone haywire: accepting lies/exaggeration for facts; dividing rather than uniting; depriving healthcare coverage for everyone; increasing the country’s deficits; tariff wars that hurt the farmers/manufacturers/consumers; denying the true emergency of gun violence; the environment, allowing the fouling of our soil, waters; the self-serving nepotism without boundaries; disparaging allies; glorifying strongmen; etc. The overwhelming greed overemphasizes individualism to the neglect of community interests … which, after all, make up the nation. Duty, service, honor, respect, altruism … unknown norms in Trump World. Talk about “going Hollywood” … John Wayne’s West.

Do we really get what we deserve?

    1. “Do we really get what we deserve?”I take it that the “we”is Americans.Once we get beyond( with difficulty) Texans vs Californians,Virginians vs Floridians,Cubanos vs Mejicanos, etc. and ” what you mean “WE” paleface?” I conclude that as participants in a for profit country in a for profit world equipped with a zero sum predilection genetic heritage,we get less than what we pay for..Externalizing the responsibility for this gets us into scapegoat land and maximizes the problem. Thus MOM and the danger o f extinguishing the candle of hope that the best America provides for each of us and for the world.
Pulling out of a dusty bag some concepts from a long unused forensic psychiatric armamentarium and applying them,to the concept of “The gang who couldn’t shoot straight”,the issue of intent emerges.Did a possibly psychotic felon have the ability to form the specific intent to commit the crime for which he is arrested? In the case of this administration ,the answer is clearly yes.Would he have committed the crime with a policeman’s hand on his shoulder. This is a little more complicated because he may believe that he owns and can control the policeman.I believe that if the control of the justice system and the courts(the policeman) were in doubt, the answer is no; he would not.;Insanity defense is not valid here(despite”little room to maneuver except into psychosis”)..Intent seems clear, attempt to control the justice system seems clear, criminality seems clear with the only defense possible stemming from a “divine right of kings”,The Mueller report once released should elucidate much of the inept behavior that eludes Presidential indictability. The lines are drawn MOM and his captive Republicans vs The Rule of Law.
