Stone,Wikileaks and the Risk of War (where?…anywhere )!

The troops that are withdrawn from Syria and Afghanistan become available for redeployment. How about Venezuela ? This dialogue may well be going on or may have gone on in the days prior to Roger Stone”s arrest. As the iron maiden of inquiry closes in on Trump(AKA POTUS.non affectionately MOM)).Collusion is now certain(not a crime) but successful collusion and lying to congress and the FBI are probably prosecutable. So in true Don CorLeone style distraction is called for and there can be no better one that war, calling upon the last shelter of a tyrant. The promise of a pardon may not be enough to shield Manafort and Stone so MOM must ramp up the game.

  1. There are no actions that this president has taken that can be regarded as other than self serving and lacking in forethought and kindness. Some of us will apparently have to wait for the horses’ head to be in bed with us and even then can declare it to be a gift. (OMIGOD ! ? What a hero!) Another shutdown in 3 weeks ? 11 billion dollars and lives at risk. Never fear MOM the DEMS are doing what they can to screw up 2020 so that you may have a continuing shot at destroying our Democracy !

    1. Daedal2207 makes it too easy to show his statement to be false when he writes “There are no actions that this president has taken that can be regarded as other than self serving and lacking in forethought and kindness.”

Apparently we are supposed to believe that Trump’s reduction of stifling regulation has had “no” positive effect on new business activity; changes in tax policy that have brought capital back to the mainland have had “no” positive effect on business activity; trade rebalancing has had “no” positive effect on business activity; perhaps in his mind it is a lie that more are employed, wages are rising and unemployment among minorities is at record lows. Or, is it what he thinks is an improper motivation (self-serving) that totally negates that which pragmatically rational minds would call a collection of amazing, life-enhancing achievements?

But then, this raises other questions: Would a President ACTUALLY be “kind” (considerate?) if he chose to do less? And how does improving our economy “destroy” our Democracy? In what ways specifically has Trump threatened Democracy?

    2. daedal2207, there are those who profess an aversion towards blind dogmas by attacking with charges of religious-like beliefs. These followers have been bitten by the charismatic Dracula, who reflects no image on a mirror … therefore, they are free to project what they desire. In such a trance, evil is good, dark is light, mendacity is truth.

DS: “Apparently we are supposed to believe that Trump’s reduction of stifling regulation has had ‘no’ positive effect on new business activity; changes in tax policy that have brought capital back to the mainland have had ‘no’ positive effect on business activity; trade rebalancing has had ‘no’ positive effect on business activity; perhaps in his mind it is a lie that more are employed, wages are rising and unemployment among minorities is at record lows.”

Wishing for those statistics do not make them so. There is no evidence for DS’s claim other than blind, religious beliefs.

      https://www.marketwatch.com/story/the-tax-cut-isnt-trickling-down-to-workers-2018-12-03
“Nearly one year ago, the Republican Congress passed and the president signed the controversial and partisan Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA). Proponents sold this law as a middle-class tax cut that would dramatically increase business investment, raise wages, and simplify the tax code.
But more than 11 months later, there is little sign that any of these promises will be fulfilled. Instead, it is increasingly clear that the tax law isn’t just a wasteful giveaway — it is harming the economy, workers, and the U.S. fiscal position in important ways.

Real wage growth has been largely nonexistent for the average worker since the tax bill passed. Production nonsupervisory workers only saw a 0.2% year-over-year increase in average hourly earnings last quarter.

The people who did benefit, however, made out like bandits. Analysts from the Tax Policy Center estimate that the top 1% of earners will receive a larger share of the tax cut this year than the entire bottom 60% combined, with the average one-percenter receiving a windfall of more than $50,000 — a result of the enormous tax cuts for corporations and large pass-through businesses, which are disproportionately owned by the wealthy.”

There is more in the written, oral, visual record. But, no point in providing such who do not wish to see … who rather spew “suffering” inflected on the privileged few. My, my, my … consumer protection, our natural treasures guarded, clean air and waters, assisting in the transition of our health needs.

DS: “But then, this raises other questions: Would a President ACTUALLY be ‘kind’ (considerate?) if he chose to do less? And how does improving our economy ‘destroy’ our Democracy? In what ways specifically has Trump threatened Democracy?”

Yes, indeed. In light of all that is public, the excuse/justification of a web of corruption speaks volumes of the righteous.

Time will tell. The young must take up the torch. Our values for the future are at stake.

      1. The resistance to acknowledging good news is an amazing thing to behold. I suppose it has to do with Trump Derangement syndrome. For those so afflicted, Trump, at any cost, cannot be given credit for anything. To the highest degree possible, the worst case must be invented in order to cast dispersions and at the next election conduct a “values” win for the current passion/religion called Leftism.
Am I, or is it SB who is “blind to the facts”? It will have to be up to the reader to decide. My judgments about the improving economy and those who are benefitting are based on widely dispersed government statistics. These show that unemployment is dramatically reduced. Unemployment for minorities is at all-time lows. The number of those reliant on food stamps has dropped. Our GDP is above 3%. As employers grow their businesses they have to bid against others for help thus providing higher salaries for employees. I have explained the mechanisms by which these statistics are logical. Anyone familiar with the dynamics of capitalism, its high levels of productivity, its incentives to attract the most talented to where they are most needed are easy to understand, and its ability to increase life-saving resources for the benefit of all is historically proven.
Yet this pragmatic understanding about the goodness of capitalism is experienced as unsatisfactory for many. It cannot match the attractiveness, the emotional “highs” that can be achieved by expanding and proselytizing faith/beliefs that enhance one’s personal sense of moral superiority. The “moral value” this faith endorses is that of an equality of outcome – which can only be achieved by creating a liberty-destroying government powerful enough to force redistributions. SB ends her statement with a plea for the young to “take up the torch. Our values for the future are at stake.”
She is right. Our “values” for the future are at stake. Here is the choice: Do we want more to survive (and thrive) but with an unequal distribution of resources? OR, do we want SB’s “values” to prevail – fewer surviving, but with a more equal distribution of diminishing resources?

        1. Reality … not wishful thinking. And, certainly, not a personal opinion. Just providing footnotes to opinions stated here.

“Farmers nearing crisis push back on Trump trade policies
Low prices, trade wars and higher interest rates are depressing farm incomes.”

          Time will tell.

  2. Hollywood material is on display, but that town has always had an oversupply of imaginative writers exploring villainous plots. How about a twist? What if the real hero is Donald Trump and the real villains are those fabricating evidence designed to depose a leader who is truly Making America Great Again? Two years of real world time (not Hollywood time) has measurably revealed that Trump policies have brought great benefit to the citizens of this Country – this includes all those of diverse backgrounds whom this plot’s villains claim are hated by Donald Trump. A thinking audience would be wondering: Why would a person who supposedly “hates” so many groups actually help them? Also, why would anyone slander and defame a man who has achieved so much that is good? Perhaps there are many who, immersed in a religious-like zeal have taught themselves to believe that some “groups” are special and need to be favored. When Trump doesn’t bow to their claim that they are advancing a special moral superiority they find themselves using any means to depose him. From their point of view he has the treasonous audacity to be a President who apparently believes that a government of the people should treat all of its citizens equally.
