The New England Patriots came storming from behind to bring off a Super Bowl victory after appearing to be dead at halftime.Maybe the dazzling half time performance by Lady Gaga put something in the air,but I’m sure they didn’t watch.
The game wan’t a political event since Rachel Maddow and Mike Pence were rooting for the Patriots but Brady and Belichek are Trump supporters. It’s the old story of a young team reaching for too much when just enough would have won.(The third quarter sack and 15 yard loss trying to pass when a running play would have gotten them to winning field goal distance is the case in point.) They also need a defense where holding receivers is not standard modus operandi. There is something relevant to the political scene however ; you need a running game, and ability to modify a game plan when consistency can’t stem momentum shift.A world class quarterback, and a great competitive coach who can inculcate competitiveness in his players can’t hurt.O.K. the were guilty of deflate gate last year but this time that didn’t happen and probably never again.Regulations…regulations…regulations.
Seldom do I find myself at odds with Rachel … this is one of them. The whole family was crushed at the Falcon loss! daedal2207’s second half of the game analysis was valid. By the same token, experience does count (wink) with the Patriots having been already around the block … the Falcons are “young.” No deflatorgate this time … stupidity given their talent … but Belickik’s code of conduct is not tarnish free (yes, those pesky ethical “regulations, regulations, regulations!”). Unfortunately, the team’s QB’s adulation for the corrupt-one-in-chief also got in the way of popularity for the fans-at-large. The one to truly admire is the Patriots’ tight end Martellus Bennett who will not attend the welcoming at the White House for the Super Bowl champions. Mr. Bennett is standing by his moral core of disapproving the indecency of the man who holds the highest leadership office in our land.
Thanks Susanna,Cheers for Michael Bennett !
