Backlash Of Scorpions

Cynicism Sweeps over America !
Jolly Jeff Sessions is now using the resources oF the civil rights unit of DOJ to pursue discriminatory practices by colleges and universities against whites.Jolly Jeff is also pushing for the classification of marijuana, including medical marijuana,to be the same as heroin. The sycophant is also declaring war on sanctuary cities using his own definition, and doing his best to transform ICE into his own storm troopers. Democrats join Republicans in protecting him( his position) from an even greater scorpion, fighting for his life now that a grand jury has been impaneled. The GOP appears to be trying to salvage itself as the clown car self destructs.
The Trumpeter still has a loyal? Base to talk bigoted “tough” to, and to appeal to disgruntled, exclusionary patriotism. The final gambit is to turn loose the violent racist groups on both sides of Manson’s Helter Skelter scenario.Should this occur the overheated stock market, fueled by greed and the prospect of Trumpian deregulation, will come tumbling down.

  1. Daedal2207’s short response dated 6 Aug 2017 at 8:20 AM is Interesting and concerning!
Yes, motives and outcome can be independent. I had earlier given an important example. I paraphrase: “The person who needs a life-saving drug is not likely to care if the motivation for producing that essential resource had been motivated by altruistic love, a craving for ostentatious wealth, or any degree of multiple possibilities in between.”
“That which is most beneficial” means just that. What works to save lives was the specific reference. Daedal2207 asks: “Whose judgment?” The best answer would be those who minimize subjective distortions and present objective measurements of math and logic. I hope that we can all recognize that starvation is destructive of life. The following is logic: If for its life to exist something needs 10x resources and has access to only 5x resources its life will end. If we want human life to prevail it is fundamental to understand that “What is most important is that human life be provided with access to maximum life-enhancing, life-saving resources.” After presenting an argument for the life-saving, resource-producing power of free enterprise and capitalism because it welcomes into its fold ALL forms of honest motivation, Daedal somehow “senses” only the exact opposite of such individual liberty – he alludes to “autocracy” and/or dictatorship. My statement is then associated with manure by “looking for a pony”. With this response I sense an intention to dismiss or shunt aside this evidence rather than have to deal with it or correct it with a RATIONAL argument. One wonders why?

  2. Let’s step back a bit to examine the nature of our judgments and how they reveal OR OBSCURE the realities.
Isn’t it good to prohibit “discriminatory practices” by colleges and universities against whites, or ANYONE because of race? (Just a thought – If race is so important, given their better group performances both academically and in business, why doesn’t the left condemn as unfairly “privileged” those of the Asian race?)

By leftist sentiments that lean toward open borders could ANY ENFORCEMENT of illegal immigration law avoid a “storm trooper” label? Or is “storm trooper” the kind of hyperbole that is so resented when Trump does the same thing?

“Exclusionary patriotism” is presented by Daedal2207 as being something negative. But ask the question: How can any person or any group, protect those values that distinguish its self from others WITHOUT engaging in serious efforts to “exclude” that which would, or those who would, dilute or destroy those values? Daedal2207 and the political left in general, seem to ignore the FACT that they are without shame being proactive about excluding and/or demeaning all who threaten their belief that they possess morally superior values. As evidence, consider the adjectives Daedal2207 used above to dismiss as evil, inferior, or ill-intended, those who if successful will necessarily compromise cherished, leftist agendas. So, acts of exclusion are good or bad only relative to a context that is explained and understood. Without the clarifications of context the use of the word “exclusionary” means nothing, but “patriotism” was presented as context. Does this mean that “patriotism” is something negative? What if one’s patriotism is for an “America” that is truly worthy? Patriotism would then be a positive sentiment. That which would truly threaten the “worth” of this “America” SHOULD be held at bay, in other words excluded. So, having stepped back we should see that our task is that of making the best case for what works best for humanity. Is it the collectivism of leftist belief or is it the resource-creating, incentive powers of individual liberty and free markets?

“Turn loose violent racial groups”?? Should we surrender the values of content-of-character and every-citizen-guaranteed-equal-rights-under-the-law just because some primitive thinking, race obsessed organizations threaten bodily harm if their particular tribal membership is not allotted “special” favors? This would create tragic and deadly conflict.

Note that Daedal2207 chooses the negative word “greed” rather than enlightened self-interest to account for the rising stock market. The existence of capital makes it possible for new and old businesses to produce resources that enhance and extend human life. But what does it matter if some of that growth is spurred by real greed? In an honest market even those driven by despicable cravings for ostentatious wealth will cause a production of new resources that enhance and save lives. What kind of “morality” would literally choose to deprive humanity of life-saving resources just because some peoples’ motives are not pure enough for the elites (or priesthood)?

    1. Greed and enlightened self interest are historically, philosophically and linguistically on opposite sides of the fence. I note the scarce resources implication one more time.I infer that the argument cannot survive without it. When did saving lives become a concern of the greedy? I don’t like political labeling because labels are so “zeit und ort gebunden”. ( contextual),but truth seeking and truth ( in so far as knowable ) will do to distinguish politicians. (Coincident with the ability to work against lobbyists and across party lines.)
The racist thugs are out for more than group gain ; that gain must be zero sum in quality. It must derive from a hated group’s loss and ,or elimination.

      1. You ask: “When did saving lives become a concern of the greedy?” My main point was and is; if the goal is meeting the needs of human life the motives of those who produce DO NOT MATTER. Capitalism and the free market harness many diverse motives to the act of productivity. ALL are welcome as long as the process is honestly pursued. Resources are key to defining the good. What is most important is that human life be provided with access to maximum life-enhancing, life-saving resources. Anything less logically tells us that some lives that could have survived will not.
If the established goal is anything that diminishes the needed productivity it is logically a goal that costs human life. Making unwelcome (hating?) any potential producers because they are not “pure” or altruistic enough would be an example of a life-killing dogma.
We should recognize the truth that some “groups” are destructive of that which is most beneficial. These groups should be hated. Our challenge is not that of avoiding hate, but that of understanding when why it is appropriate or inappropriate to hate.

        1. Whaaa…? Motives and outcome independent…? That which is most beneficial…? Whose judgment? I sense autocracy and/or dictatorship. Way “too much green for a country boy” ! Why is there no other comment? There’s gotta be a pony….

  3. As you know, marijuana is a dangerous drug. It hastens precipitating psychosis in a prone shcizophrenic. In addition to its “Amotivational Syndrome” & being a gate fro abusing other drugs. It is good that the Federal Government doesn’t follow uninformed States for deregulating it.
As for the so called “Sanctuary Cities”, should we really give sanctuary to those who committed the CRIME of entering this country illegally & mocking our sovereignty as a nation? No other nation allows suck mockery!

    1. Marijuana the psychoactive cannabinol has been used to relieve chronic pain that has become resistant to opioids except at levels that invite respiratory suppression..It is true that cannabinols can have significant anti- inflammatory activity without the psychoactive component. Thie psychoactive aspect seems important in the elderly. This suggests that marijuana might have a significant role to play in dealing with the opioid addiction epidemic. The gateway concept is an interesting one .Unquestionably of some significance, it leaves unanswered whether the gate that swings open is pharmacological or sociological. You know,” the company you keep”.
The sanctuary city concept is not derived from altruism alone or even principally..It flourishes where local commerce needs the help.I agree that breaking the law should not be rewarded but it often occurs when the law is flawed or uncognizant of a free market need like tax or immigration reform

daedal2207, a post waaaaaaay back on 8/4/2017. Your wisdom and understanding have bestowed you with clairvoyance. If we would all be willing to heed! Erinyes or The Furies have been unleashed. Richard Painter, the chief ethics lawyer in the George W. Bush administration (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Painter) declared: “This is the face of fascism in the U.S.” http://www.msnbc.com/am-joy/watch/richard-painter-this-is-the-face-of-fascism-in-the-u-s-1023340611837

At Jefferson’s UVA!! The consequences of amorality being accepted as the head of our state. Lest we are tempted to compare with the demonstrations of the 60s, the confrontations were against the Vietnam war … which were proven to be the nation’s unwillingness to shed its blood against a proxy territory. The present scenario challenges who won ideologically in WWII, the conflict against fascism. This is not a policy discussion between self-identified progressives and/or conservatives. This is outright hate and racism. Sadly, with the instigator-in-chief, with no moral compass, wrapped in an insecure body, it is only the beginning. Trump brought it on … he owns it. Natural-born citizens may take our institutions for granted … I don’t. At 74, I’m shocked.

        Moving on.

Anwar Ghali: “As you know, marijuana is a dangerous drug. It hastens precipitating psychosis in a prone shcizophrenic. In addition to its “Amotivational Syndrome” & being a gate fro abusing other drugs. It is good that the Federal Government doesn’t follow uninformed States for deregulating it.”

So are other mind-altering legal drugs. I personally experienced once … which was enough … the hallucinatory effects of one Percocet pill (prescribed as a pain killer!). When answering medical screening questions as to personal allergies, I have been told that Percocet reaction was quite common. So much for Federal Government regulation.

“High potential for abuse? Hardly: while upwards of 42% of American adults have smoked marijuana at least once in their life, less than 1% smoke it on a daily basis. And whereas alcohol is linked to over 75,000 deaths per year, and cigarettes roughly 400,000 per year, the world is still waiting for the first-ever instance of marijuana fatality. This is a drug on which it is impossible to overdose.” http://www.huffingtonpost.com/kevin-armento/why-marijuana-is-not-a-dr_b_571531.html

Alcohol Prohibition was ineffectual. Banning nicotine? Yeah, right. These challenges are not “one-size-fits-all” solutions. The latest proposal … “Just say ‘no’.” Obviously the greater preoccupation by a lazy response to a critical problem is not to be discovered in past corrupt, treasonous behavior.

The opioids epidemic is a tsunami that had alerts posted all over the place … 40 years in the making with big pharma, ad agencies, and financially incentivized doctors as part of the cartel. “Dreamland: The True Tale of America’s Opioid Epidemic” by Sam Quinones, meticulously details the trajectory. https://www.csmonitor.com/Books/Book-Reviews/2015/0428/Dreamland-is-the-must-read-book-about-America-s-heroin-crisis. Our discussions are not advanced towards enlightenment when analysis is oversimplified.

daedal2207: “The sanctuary city concept is not derived from altruism alone or even principally..It flourishes where local commerce needs the help.I agree that breaking the law should not be rewarded but it often occurs when the law is flawed or uncognizant of a free market need like tax or immigration reform”

That is correct, daedal2207. It takes two to tango. The current … and proposed criteria to … immigration policy only furthers the ability to exploit.

This forum is a challenge and one that deserves more varied participation … instead of the often-repeated platitudes. Thank you for the opportunity and freedom of expression. I truly appreciate the subjects.

        1. Your comments are well directed.Alternative facts( damn lies) are no doubt confusing and discouraging to many, but common sense goes a long way.Scaramucci called Trump” an open book ” on ABC this a.m.This may be true if one is willing to read what is obvious and not defend it.Otherwise ” Malleus Maleficarum” (Witches Hammer)may be needed to decide penalty. The opioid crisis has been going on for a long time and requires a multifaceted Public Health approach which this administration is incapable of mounting particularly since Medicaid is the principal source of money for care and it is at risk with GOP health care proposals.
