The Trumpeter has two major personal flaws( outside of broadcasting sexual practices).The first is habitual binary thought( go/no go) and the second is habitual lying.Applying these to the latest school mass shooting we watch him first embrace gun control including weapon seizure without judicial approval( a clear 2nd amendment violation)and then backtracking to almost total support of NRA posture.The tariff pronouncement is a good example of the inadequacy of binary thought.Aside from pulling percentages from thin air for steel and aluminum import taxation,it never occurred to MOM that you cannot go after a nation in an economic trading bloc individually,you must take on the bloc.e.g.the European union and/ or the Trans Pacific Union should you go after Sweden in the first instance,or
China in the second.This action ensures a trade war which an individual nation must surely lose.None of this is particularly hard to understand but MOM as POTUS swaggers on.
The lie about 10 people trying to climb aboard as 1 leaves is blatant.What is happening is that as second raters with some global and domestic skills depart,third raters,narrow ideologues come on and when given free reign by a cowardly congress will accelerate the decline of a great nation.War and/ or revolution will become increasingly imminent.

“The Art of the Deal” explains the general style and content of President Trump’s methods. A fast-growing list of measurable “goods” benefitting our Country demonstrates that these methods are working marvelously! Set an exaggerated position for the goal, (Exaggerations could be called lies, and for those who “hate” the fact that trump is being successful, his exaggerations become damn lies.) and then continue the process by playing the strongest cards possible, which in some contexts include emotionally manipulative techniques such as diminishment and insults. (Perhaps with this technique “Rocket man” will be deterred, finally so fearful for his future that he gives up his nuclear ambitions.) Backtrack as little as possible. Daedal2207 hasn’t noticed that for the last half century techniques of belittlement and insult have tended to be dominant tactics used (quite successfully for their agendas) by Democrats. Confronted by any argument that is threatening to leftist orthodoxy, Democrat standard practice has been to avoid rational engagement by dismissing opponents as being sexist, intolerant, xenophobic, homophobic, racist, bigoted, etc. etc. etc. It always seemed strange to me that those who claim to be sophisticated thinkers and claim to hate anyone guilty of generalized labeling would themselves be so obviously guilty in the use of simpleminded, dishonest generalizations.
Tony Schwarz,the real author of The Art of the Deal indicates that the lying, cheating,egotistical ,unable to learn MOM is incapable of clever negotiation.If he cannot cheat, he is played,if he cannot bribe he is outsmarted,the evidence of his losses are protected by judicial judgments off the book and paid for.Tony Schwarz should know,having been swindled by Trump out of first authorship of a book he wrote and then excluded.No one should be surprised if MOM squirms out of the meeting with “Rocket Man”.His defenders seem to have no compunction about climbing over victims,failing to sense their own victimization,and to acclaim Trump as champion of some narrow,vindictive bias of their own.

Is this a comedy routine? Abbott and Costello? The group that gave us alt-facts are now defining alt-lies, i.e. lies are mere exaggerations. A new standard for parents in educating/establishing norms for their children.

DS is making a blanket accusation about Democrats which he has “earned” since Democrats use the same techniques against Republicans (wink!). However, if the charges … “sexist, intolerant, xenophobic, homophobic, racist, bigoted” … are proven descriptions because of behavior, what is one to do … “turn the other cheek?” (Smile, growl … whatever!). Obviously, we differ in our norm’s expectations. Is perversion also OK/acceptable? Who knows. This blog is not prudish (thank goodness), by any stretch of the imagination, but it seems to have a boundary for “beyond the Pale.” The mob has success in its “businesses,” but do we as a society approve of their “methods?” They do “challenge” the rule of law, ethics, morality, etc. etc. etc.
This simpleminded blogger is just askin’.
SB raised some issues worth exploring:
I watched the MSNBC segment where Tony Schwartz (co-author of the “Art of the Deal”) ascribes “fear” to be Trump’s dominant tactic for swaying others (and possibly Trump himself). Fundamentally every person’s judgment weighs risk, cost versus gain; so this is a safe accusation. “Threatened” with a high “cost” for anything is something all should “fear”. Schwarz is being too simpleminded when his argument assumes that all fear diminishes the rational processes. For many, varying degrees of “fear” focus the mind to sharper, more nuanced judgments. Also, those with different concepts of “cost” and “gain” will react to the same stimuli with different emotions. Those who value individual liberty will legitimately “fear” socialist agendas and visa-versa. The key to better understandings is not that of our emotional state, but should be that of methods used for determining the actual (measurable) gain or loss.
Exaggerations are lies, as well as are “white lies”. My point is that some lies impact more than others. Telling the Country that “You can keep your doctor” in order to alter a fundamental law of the land is a far more significant lie than is exaggerating the size of crowds. Trump often exaggerates, thus tells many small lies. Obama told some whoppers! Trump also told the voters that he intended to do a number of things in order to “make America great again”. Many (even Republicans) are surprised that, unlike so many politicians, he is actually doing what he promised. That is called “honest behavior”. This deserves respect (and from my point of view, relief and gratitude).
SB points out that I made a “generalized” observation when declaring that Democrats have a “standard practice” of labeling opponents “sexist, intolerant, xenophobic, homophobic, racist, bigoted, etc. etc. etc.” Generalizations are not all bad. “Wisdom” exists only as an understanding of general truths. SB is correct in noting that if the charge is truthful we are better for having it revealed. So, of the first order, we need to be good judges of truth. Logic helps us do this important thing. Here is an important example: If there are a number of possible explanations for a behavior but all are ignored except one, we know logically that the primary interest cannot be that of advancing truth (the truth is that there are a number of possible explanations, not just one). A claim to know something with more certitude than ALL the evidence would allow is a form of lie. Consider: Many claim that because a Republican chooses not to allot special favors to someone of color, or sex, or whatever, he and/or all Republicans are deemed to be racist, sexist, etc. But other possibilities exist: A Republican respectful of equal allocations of liberty would value equal rights under the law for ALL citizens. It is a logical fact that laws granting “special rights” for some must be a violation of equal rights for all.
A group or individual respectful of an equality of individual liberty, when so libeled or slandered would be accurate in judging such attackers as: possibly ignorant, possibly of low cognitive ability, possibly needy for a greater-than-thou position, possibly intentionally manipulating to advance a political agenda, possibly driven by a need to conform to peer pressure expectations, possibly driven by a need to conform to warped cultural expectations, possibly subconsciously-or-not driven by a need to conform to biased group or philosophic expectations, possibly various combinations of all the above, and/or possibly …..…?

With these flaws come the knack of promoting chaos in order to control the news media … and satisfy MOM’s need for exclusive attention. Which corrupt/scandal revelation to cover when we’re deluged by new ones on a daily basis (rather than being hyperbolic and stating on an hourly basis!)? This is rule by hollow reality show thrill-seeking tension, with techniques of fear (even within his staff) and hate. At its most fundamental for functioning, it affects our national psyche. I don’t have the most basic of qualifications to lecture the learned panel of this blog … to be sure. The panel can most accurately define and explain the effects for the worldwide readers at large.
Even the rational Republicans who have identified themselves as conservative (whatever that means now) policy promoters are questioning when will the bottom be reached. Where is the bottom? In their paralysis, they have weakened themselves by allowing a new party of chaos … Trumpism … to emerge. Maybe the shake-up is a cleanser?

These, along with plagues, have been identified as historical (meaning thousands of years!) equalizers of (in a “yuge” scale) income inequality. Must be Nature’s way of getting us back to the classroom and learning by others’ past experiences. No pain, no gain?
Yes.I assume the plaques you refer to are those of arterial atherosclerosis,or more superficially located those of psoriatic arthritis or scleroderma? At any rate genetic signs of human vulnerability and not our own honorific creations for walls and safe rooms( smile).
