Women And The Future: Survival When Referees Take Sides

Recent work with the skeletal remains of an archaic species Homo Nalidi,as reported by Carolyn Von Sickle Visiting Asst.Professor of Anthropology at Bryn Mawr,in the Nov-Dec 2016 issue of American Scientist, indicate a complex relationship between nutrition, social cooperation and the shape of the hominid pelvis.Apparently archaic traits and more modern traits are often intermixed in the hominid story. As best as I can understand, lacking knowledge in paleoanthropology, the bowl-shaped pelvis of the female hominid including homo sapiens(us) is needed to allow passage of a big brained fetus through the birth canal. The posture and ground covering capability associated seem linked more firmly than to predation and hunting.Paleoanthropology seems to suggest that the sapience of homo depended on female pelvic adaptation.
In the same issue of American Scientist Susan C.Alberts,Robert F Durden Professor of Biology and Evolutionary Anthropology at Duke U. Discusses the survival of wild infant baboons in the Amboselli basin of Southern Kenya. In this environment there is some possibility of survival for orphaned infants. She points out that the availability of a lactating surrogate with enough milk for her own offspring as well as the orphan is unlikely and seems to require the assistance of a protective male. This complicated by the use of lower status males to use infants to deflect the hostility of other, often higher ranking males. This use adds to infant mortality and removes the protective behavior from confusion with human altruism.Again my apologies for ignorance about ethology and evolutionary anthropology!,but it appears that the survival of the most marginal and weakest members of baboon society is dependent on the females.(Sometimes resulting in their injury or death)
Switching(not pivoting)to the affairs of men and my presumption that Homo Sapiens is engaged in a struggle for survival against overpopulation, global warming, terrorism, and nuclear extinction. On this blog it has been suggested that female leadership may be the key to our survival on the planet.Models of governance ,reflecting national character, are competing to define the future. There appears to be little question that capitalism is the best way to make a bigger pie;within that framework is the competition issue.our bid is constitutional democracy. It is the opinion of most of our contributors that Hillary is our best bet to carry us forward. It is ironic but far from accidental that the abusive conduct of three men vis-a-vis women are bedevilling her candidacy. Those three are her opponent a self-confessed serial abuser, her husband,a charming philanderer, and a disgraced former representative an admitted exhibitionist and pedophile.
The release of information ( first to republicans) that examination of the email issue would be resumed on the basis of a computer shared by a top aide(Abedin) with her husband(Weiner)10 days before the election, and under scrutiny for his perverse content and incidentally to contain some emails sent to her server,is the reification of innuendo and surmise and cannot be defended.A full disclosure of what is in FBI possession and what has been done with it is essential to Hillary and the rest of us.In the meantime the most vociferous of the innuendo accusers turn out to be men who have conducted themselves in less than chivalrous fashion with multiple ex wives two of whom were plagued with terminal illnesses.(Gingrich,Giuliani.)

Thank you, Professor, for the cover this provides me. https://youtu.be/E60Gw2l_Dmw

OK. We did our share. Time for the opposite gender not to feel threatened (because we can do it backwards, and in heels … reference Kate Hepburn … wink, wink, smile). This is a joint venture. Stop undermining the progress (?) of Homo sapiens.

On behalf of my gender, we welcome the endorsement of equal standing … no more, no less. Personally, I don’t vote gender, race, or religion. In Hillary Clinton’s case, I am voting for her because I see her as the most qualified candidate to lead our country … who happens to be a woman.

The future. In focusing on overpopulation and how it relates to some of our challenges in which we waltz around the consequences … the inability of our planet to sustain it due to hunger, water resources, and the scourge of hopelessness through poverty, I offer the below link (provided to me by my dear friend) as advocating for the obvious solution. http://www.vox.com/2016/8/4/12369912/hillary-clinton-pro-life. It is the endorsement of a pro-lifer for the pro-choice Hillary Clinton. In it is contained the plea “… to create a culture with fewer unwanted pregnancies to begin with.” (May I add that Ms. Evans’ position was published August 4, 2016, an eternity ago, prior to the misogynistic reinforcements from Trump.) In her article, Ms. Evans calls for support of affordable and accessible contraception in order to reduce the abortion rate. The need for contraception:

http://www.nytimes.com/2016/10/30/opinion/sunday/3-tvs-and-no-food-growing-up-poor-in-america.html?action=click&pgtype=Homepage&clickSource=story-heading&module=opinion-c-col-right-region&region=opinion-c-col-right-region&WT.nav=opinion-c-col-right-region. A small but pertinent sample from the column …

“One tool, for example, is helping at-risk teenagers avoid pregnancy. Consider a 17- year-old we met in Tulsa., Okla., Nataly Ledesma, who became pregnant the summer after sixth grade at age 13 by a 28-year-old man. ‘I had never heard of condoms or birth control,’ she said. ‘By the time I took *family health* class in ninth grade, my baby was almost 2.’ If she had had early sex education and access to birth control, she said, she probably would not have become pregnant.”

Should we not advocate for, not only early sex education, but that contraception be made easily available/promoted/required for pubescent girls? This is a public health issue. Pregnancy is not an illness, but a condition brought on by exposure. Immunization against diphtheria, measles, mumps, polio, chickenpox, to name a few, is an attempt to prevent unwanted results due to exposure.

In recognizing that a controversial concept has been put forth, is there a discussion here? (I can already hear the lion’s roar!). As a caveat, may we agree that hiding behind promoting promiscuity would be a denial of nature … which is not working. Ms. Evans’ article provides the statistics.

The FBI and the emails. Are we that bored? Anthony Weiner? Oh, brother! You’re subjecting us to Newt’s and Rudy’s mugs!!! Equal opportunity contempt: Kellyanne Conway. Girl, your profession is giving women a bad name.
